There isn’t just one way to be successful as an entrepreneur. Your business personality type is a combination of the traits and characteristics of your personality that blend with the needs of the business.

Last week, we looked at four  key personality types for owners. This week, we will cover five more. Understanding each will help you enjoy your business more and provide your company with what it needs to grow. This entrepreneur personality profile is based on the 9-point types of the Enneagram personality test commonly used in business.

The 9 Personality Types of Entrepreneurs (no. 5-9)

5. The Visionary

A business built by a Visionary will often be based on the future vision and thoughts of the founder. Visionaries will have a high degree of curiosity to understand the world around them and will set-up plans to avoid the landmines. A common problem, though, is that Visionaries can be too focused on the dream with little focus on reality. To succeed with this type of personality, their actions must proceed their vision.

6. The Analyst

If an owner runs a business as an Analyst, their company is focused on fixing problems in a systematic way. Often the basis for science, engineering or computer firms, Analyst-led companies excel at problem solving. It is imperative, though, that they are aware of analysis paralysis and work on trusting others.

7. The Fireball

A business owned and operated by a Fireball is full of life, energy and optimism. Their company is energizing, and makes customers feel the company has a get-it-done attitude with a fun, playful manner. They must be wary of over-committing their teams and acting impulsively. To be successful,  they need to balance their impulsiveness with business planning.

8. The Hero

Hero-type personalities have an incredible will and the ability to lead the world and their business through any challenge. They are the essence of entrepreneurship, and can assemble great companies. They must realize that over-promising others and using forceful tactics to get their way will not work long-term. To be successful, they must trust in the leadership skills of the owner to help others find their way.

9. The Healer

Healers provide nurture and harmony to their business. They have an uncanny ability to survive and persist with inner calm. Due to their caring attitude, they may avoid outside realities and use wishful thinking. It is important to use scenario planning to prepare for turmoil.

Personality traits can act as a compass for the small business owner. Understanding yourself is an extension of understanding your business, which helps you troubleshoot future problems and identifying areas where you can easily excel.
